The RBI Winter Hitting Program is a comprehensive and progressive program that covers a variety of topics throughout the 15 week session. In addition to a full assessment in the first few weeks of the program, players will be assigned individualized development plans based on each athlete’s specific needs! The RBI Hitting Program has 3 different phases throughout the off-season in which player’s goals and curriculum will be adjusted in order to help create the most complete hitters possible.
This first Phase starts with a full assessment or each hitter by a member of the RBI staff. Players will go through an On Base U mobility screen and use our K-Motion technology to assess their body positioning and kinematic sequencing in their swing. Each hitter will also use Blast Motion as well as our Hittrax system to create a Swing Profile and Batted Ball Profile for each hitter. Combined with their mobility screen and K-Vest readings, coaches will then take all this information and formulate an individual development plan for each player that will be adjusted throughout the winter! Phase 1 also includes RBI’s “Base Hitting Drills” which are concepts and practice plans that we believe apply to all players and set a solid foundation for the remainder of the program. This program will run off of a slightly different schedule than the remaining schedules due to its format.
The second phase of off-season development leans more towards what each individual specifically needs to address in practice. Using the information from each player’s assessment, players will be assigned individual drills to be done at each weekly session. In addition, each athlete will also receive practice plans for days they are not in programming to continue development on their own time. Phase 2 will feature video reviews or each player in addition to scheduled times for updated “re-assessments.”
The final phase of the RBI Hitting Program revolves around game preparedness. Players will use one of our 4 Hack Attack Pitching Machines in order to simulate in-game velocity, as well as aid in training to hit a variety of off-speed pitches. Coaches will take a deeper dive into things like Situational Hitting, Approach, Pitch Selection, and Swing Decision, which are things that directly impact their performance on the field!
Once the athlete has selected a program, they will be participating on that day and time throughout the winter (Except for assessment weeks). IF an athlete has a conflict for a specific week, RBI will do everything in it's power to find a day/time to make up that particular session.
