Pat
Boen
Camp Director
Nearing the
completion of his first decade as Head Baseball Coach at Stonehill
College, Patrick Boen has turned success into an expectation year
after year. With nine consecutive 20-plus-win seasons, Boen has
built an incredible resume at his alma mater that boasts nearly 300
career wins and a .685 winning percentage. His Skyhawk squads have
reached the Northeast-10 Conference "Final Four" eight times during
his tenure that has undoubtedly been the most successful in the
program's history.
Boen, in 1998 led
Stonehill to a then school-record 25 victories and the Skyhawks'
first berth in the Northeast-10 Conference playoffs in 12 seasons.
He followed that up in 1999 by leading his troops to the school's
first share of the Northeast-10 regular season championship since
1985 and a 23-win campaign, and for his efforts was recognized by
his peers as the 1999 Northeast-10 Coach of the Year. The best was
yet to come in 2000, however, as Stonehill enjoyed its best season
ever that spring in amassing 34 wins, capturing both the
Northeast-10 regular season and tournament titles and earning the
school's first-ever NCAA tournament berth, as the Skyhawks fell to
Saint Rose in the Northeast Regional championship game. Boen's
colleagues once again recognized his efforts, as he was voted as the
Northeast-10 Coach of the Year for the second straight season and
was also tabbed as the 2000 New England Division II Coach of the
Year by the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Association. Coach
Boen was recently awarded the NE-10 Coach of the year honors again
in 2006. A
native of Brockton, Mass., Boen was a standout shortstop on the
Stonehill diamond from 1986 through 1989, and he was also the
starting point guard for the Skyhawk basketball squad, helping his
alma mater to the 1988-89 Northeast-10 hoop championship. Patrick
came to Stonehill after a standout career at Brockton High, where he
led the Boxers to the state basketball championship as a senior in
1985. He was inducted into the Brockton High School Hall of Fame
four years ago and the Stonehill Athletic Hall Of Fame in 2007. Pat
Boen now resides in Mansfield, MA with wife Shelly, daughter Lauren
(13) and sons Michael (11), Max (9) and Matthew (5).
